Cast and Stage Acts

With the roles of our core characters filled, we are seeking volunteer actors to help fill out our faire with vibrant characters, such as Nobles, Knights, Lunatics, Peasants, Lords and Ladies, Sheriff’s deputies, Merry Men and Women to join Robin hood’s band, Gypsies, Fairies, Elves, Trolls, Ogres, any creatures of fantasy, roving musicians, Wenches, Pirates, and more!

Sherwood Forest Faire’s official acting company, known as The Sherwood Players, is designed in the manner of a medieval guild system with three tiers: Master, Journeyman, and Apprentice.

Master Performers will be the highest skilled at their art, and reimbursed accordingly.

Journeyman Performers will be paid at a lower level than their mentors, but will be considered as professional actors.

Apprentice Performers will be in-training, and will sometimes be able to solicit tips, and will share in tips when working on stage with other actors .

All Performers will work the grounds, as well as participate in stage acts.

The Sherwood Players meet weekly either in Austin or at the fairegrounds to learn songs, practice stage combat, write and rehearse scenes, read from old books, and find our inner Robin Hoods and Maid Marians.  All levels of Performers will be required to attend all auditions, practices, and days the Faire is open.  We will try to enlist your help in distributing fliers at events, parades, and high traffic areas.  We go weekly to different events, in character and dressed in Renaissance garb, to spread the word about Sherwood Forest Faire by bringing some of our fun, fantastic energy to the people who need us most – EVERYBODY!

If you’d like to join The Sherwood Players, please get in touch with Zane Baker, our Director of Entertainment, via the Contact Us page.
